Crittenden, John Jordan
(1787-1863) Криттенден, Джон Джордан
Политический и государственный деятель, юрист. В 1841 и в 1848-50 - министр юстиции США [Attorney General of the United States]. В 1848-50 - губернатор штата [governor] Кентукки. Член Сената США [Senate, U.S.] от этого штата в 1817-19 и 1835-61 (кроме тех лет, когда занимал пост министра юстиции). Инициатор т.н. Компромисса Криттендена [Crittenden Compromise] - попытки избежать Гражданской войны [Civil War]. Сыновья Криттендена должны были воевать по разные стороны.
